Pimply, bumpy arms? Here's what to do about them!

If you’ve ever wondered about those little bumps on your arms, or perhaps even thighs and back, you’re not alone.
It’s thought that as many as 1 in 3 people suffer from Keratosis Pilaris, the rough, goose-pimply skin condition that’s more commonly termed “chicken skin”.
The skin condition is caused by a build-up of keratin from the outer layer of the skin, that blocks the skin’s hair follicles with hardened skin cells. Rough, raised and sandpaper-like bumps are the result. Keratosis Pilaris is not contagious, although it is passed down through families. Adults with the condition have a 50% chance of passing it on to their children.
While Keratosis Pilaris is a harmless and painless condition, it’s gritty feel and spotty appearance can cause concern for sufferers.
Some people, particularly women, even report feeling too embarrassed by the condition to wear sleeveless tops and dresses.
Keratosis Pilaris is also more common in people with dry skin and problem skin conditions such as eczema.
It’s important to keep skin well hydrated and moisturised to reduce the visible appearance of the bumps, avoiding hot showers, scatching and picking, and topical treatments with ingredients that are known to dry the skin and limit its ability to breathe (read more about that here).
Bee Loved’s own paraben-free Body Lotion is ideal for smoothing dry, rough skin and the sandpapery effects of Keratosis Pilaris thanks to a number of natural ingredients such as beeswax, shea butter, aloe and cocoa seed butter.
